Darius Slayton - It wouldn’t surprise me if Slayton is among the top 5 in ownership at the WR position on this slate. After going OFF in a primetime game, he is sure to attract plenty of attention. Against the Eagles on MNF, Slayton went ahead and put up 5 catches for 154 yards, & 2 TDs on 7 targets and 127 air yards. How is it possible that he had more rec yards than air yards? Well, Slayton showed us he was able to get it done after the catch too as 53 of his yards came after the catch. PFF ranked Slayton’s monster performance as the 2nd best performance of the week. Only AJ Brown received a better receiving grade than Slayton this past weekend. Slayton’s matchup this weekend may allow him to put up similar numbers to his monster performance on MNF as the Giants host the Miami Dolphins who have allowed the 2nd most points to WR over the past month. Worried about Shepard being the prime beneficiary of this matchup? Well, not so fast. Since Shepard has returned from injury not only has Slayton out targeted (24 to 22) Shepard, he has out produced him as well. In the 3 weeks since Shepard has returned, Slayton has the edge in air yards (257 vs. 172), rec yards (265 vs. 83), TDs (2 vs. 1). Slayton’s 1v1 matchup is with 7th round rookie Ken Webster who was cut from the Patriots and was signed by the Dolphins as a free agent. Webster has not played or been targeted much, but in the 2 games he has been targeted a minimum of 5 times he has allowed lines of 4/40 on 5 targets and 6/83 on 10 targets. Look for Eli & Slayton to take a few shots against Webster and the Dolphins this weekend.
Sterling Shepard - Just like his teammate Slayton, he is likely going to be one of the most popular plays this week as he gets a matchup with the Miami Dolphins who have allowed the 2nd most FPPG to opponents over the last month. Since his return from injury, Shepard has seen an average of 7 targets a game, but has not been able to top 40 yards in any of them. If there was a matchup for him to get back to his ways it’s going to
