The "ELITE" Tier
Gerrit Cole: Think about everything I pointed out about JV yesterday but with someone else who has been just a little nastier. We know DET strikes out a fair amount vs. righties (23.3%) of the time & I know Cole won’t have an issue taking advantage of this lineup as supported by his 36.8% K rate. Astros are a huge favorite tonight -550 and DET has a measly projected run total of 2.03…
Max Scherzer: After missing a month worth of starts due to injury Mad Max is back in the fold. In his words he said he is “Ready to pitch” so I fully expect him to come out and shove against the Pirates tonight. The Pirates as a team don’t strike out a ton vs. righties (16.7% ) of the time, but Max can overpower any lineup as proven by his ridiculous 35.3% K rate on the season. Weather tonight should be pitcher friendly and the implied total for the Pirates is only 3.35.
Mike Soroka: Hoping for low ownership tonight because I have no problem going above the field here. He hasn’t been as dominant as he was in the early going of the season, but he’s still been pretty damn good. His only kryptonite has been his inability to get out lefties over the past month but the Marlins are only projected to start 2 of them so we don’t have to worry about that. Soroka on the year has only struck out hitters 19.7% of the time but the Marlins as a team strike out 24.5% vs righties so that should boost his K numbers a bit tonight. Not to mention the wind is blowing in from right and Soroka has a GB rate of 54.7%. He has everything working in his favor that should put him in line for a big game.
