The Elite Tier
Justin Verlander (12000 FD & 11900 DK)- The best pitcher going today in terms of raw points. Verlander has been everything the Astros could have hoped for and more. Justin has failed to reach 40 Fd points just 5 times this year, and he has reached at least 50 points 9 times already. He's about as safe of a pitcher you will find these days. Today he goes against a Cincinnati unit that has a bottom 3 implied run total (3.49). The Reds have quite a few lefties in their lineup but that actually works in Verlander's favor. Justin is striking out over 39.5% of LHBs faced as compared to 25.8% of righties. The hell Justin??
Brandon Woodruff (9300 FD & DK)- I'm praying and hoping Woodruff gets overlooked on this slate. He has just as much upside as anyone not named Verlander today. Facing off against a San Diego team that is filled with strikeouts top to bottom. For comparison sake, the only team on the entire slate with a higher K rate than the Padres is Tampa. (more on that matchup later).
Brandon has had a great season to this point, 3.52 xFIP, 3.62 SIERA, 28.9% K, creates over 20% soft contact, all while having a high BABIP of .313. That means he's been getting unlucky on some of the balls that hitters actually get in play. He's pitching in a great pitcher's park with an umpire that leans towards being pitcher friendly. I'm fully in on Woodruff today.
The Secondary Tier
Cole Hamels (8600 FD, 10500 DK)- A pitcher who still manages to keep the ball
