MLB Takeoff: The Return

Oh man, it's actually here, MLB Baseball. The baseball that we don't have to set the alarm at 4:30 am for. The baseball that player's names are easily distinguishable. The baseball that so happened to be the bread and butter to the most successful 6 months of my life. Welcome back everybody who is returning for round 2, and hello to all the new names. I look forward to working with all of you and accomplishing our mission together.

Before we get started, I just wanted to say thank you for including Daily Boogie as a part of your life, I will do my best to make sure you are put in the best possible position to win. While I may be biased (obviously), I genuinely feel we had the best community in all of DFS. Over the next couple of weeks, we'll be zoning in on perfecting our algorithm, incorporating whatever changes 2020 brings along with it. In the meantime, we'll be providing you with some strategic elements and game plans to add to your DFS process. I'll be releasing several tutorials that I promise are by themselves worth the price of admission.

Let me give our newcomers a quick recap of my story and the crazy whirlwind that was the 2019 season.

As for how my 2019 MLB DFS Season went? Let's just say I went from never having participated in a single "Qualifier" Contest as recently as April last year to being the first player to lockdown 5 FanDuel Live Finals Seats for the World Fantasy Baseball Championship by early July.

On my path to the 5 "Qs," I also managed to take down several GPPs with top prizes ranging from $1,000 to $50,000. There was actually one day that I only had time to make a couple of lineups during previews to a movie I went to go see. Obviously, my expectations weren't very high as I pressed submit and put my phone away for a couple of hours. When the movie ends, I open up my phone, and there I was, yet again, the first name on the leaderboard. The majority of the field was probably saying, "Who the F is this asshole??".

Now, to keep expectations in check, there were obviously some losing nights mixed in with all the winning. I was very fortunate that I didn't run into a losing streak well after some of my bigger paydays. At first, I was baffled that the name BoogieJonesMan wasn't amongst the leaderboards. WTH? I'm doing everything the same, why am I not winning all the money like before?? The most valuable lesson I learned through all of this is the value of Patience and the fortitude to Trust the Process. There will be ups, and there will be downs, especially in a sector that rewards in such top-heavy formats.

This leads me to my final point: Be vigilant of your opponents' tendencies and know when to adjust. This is especially so in a sport like baseball. Unlike the other leading sports, baseball presents the broadest range of day-to-day outcomes, even from the best players in the World. We won't ever see Lebron go 0-15 FG, 0 Rebounds, & 0 Assists, just like we aren't going to come across a Patrick Mahomes boxscore that reads: 0-33 for 0 TDs. Yet, in this particular sport, the likes of Mike Trout can go 0-4 on ANY given ni
