MLB Takeoff 7/20 Preview

Tonight's slate should shape up to be a fun one. We have good pitchers in tough spots and bad pitchers in good spots. It's time to pick our poison and dive into the ones we want to take chances on tonight.

Primary Arms

A.Nola: Nola will be making his 1st start after the break fresh off the COVID-19 list. However, Nola never tested positive and he was on the list as a precaution for close contact tracing which should ease any concerns about his endurance for tonight's matchup against the Yankees. Sure, Nola has struggled over his last 2 starts giving up 7 & 4 ER respectively, but...

Y.Darvish: The Padres will activate RHP Yu Darvish from the IL to start Tuesday's game in Trust Park against the Braves. Darvish indicated he's back to one hundred percent health and ready to go following the stint on the injured list with hip inflammation. Darvish is a better play on DraftKings tonight as he comes in with a salary that is $2K cheaper than his $11.2K price tag over on FanDuel but carries some risk facing a Braves team with a .186 ISO vs. RHP on the season plus the re-injury concern with this being his first start back. Darvish enters play at 7-3 with a 3.09 on the season to go with a 29.8% K rate, 5.7% BB rate, .276 xwOBA, and a 38% HH rate. The Braves matchup will prove to be a difficult one even without the likes of Ronald Acuna as new addition Joc Pederson already made his presence felt with a homer over the weekend. Darvish is currently picking up the most projected ownership. The issue here is the pending weather in Atlanta tonight that you'll want to follow leading up to lock this evening but the current outlook isn't great with rain in the area all night and a PPD very much on the table.
