Primary Pitching Options
Casey Kelly (LG) $8800: The best pitcher going today is somehow only the 3rd most expensive option on the board. If we throw out his 1st start, which was a complete mess coming off of a 14 day quarantine, Kelly has shown he's closing in on finding his 2019 form that saw him post a 17 K%, 5.5 BB%, 3.43 FIP, and a 2.55 ERA. The 17% K rate might not seem impressive, but its above average as far as the KBO is concerned. His peripherals show a pitcher who can easily improve on his K%, which he has already shown this season; having a 22.7 K% that lands him in the top 10 for 2020. Lastly, his matchup happens to be a strong one, facing the Samsung Lions who sit bottom 3 across most offensive metrics.
Hyun-jong Yang (KIA) $9900: I have no idea what made DK price this guy HIGHER than what they had the great Koo at, but here we are. He might be one of the safer options going today, if not THE safest. If this was last season (22.3 K%, 4.5 BB%, 2.59 FIP) I would tell you I'm all in. The issue has been his more "meh" start to his 2020 campaign (16.1 K%, 7.1 BB%, 4.64 FIP). I'm hoping his inflated numbers have more to do with his first and last start that saw him go for negative points against KIW & KT (2 Top Tier Offenses). His other 3 starts were very impressive seeing him go for 16+ points in all of them, including against DOO. He gets a struggling LOT squad who has allowed worst pitchers to hit their ceilings on several occasions this season.
Warwick Saupold (HAN) $9500: Price tag is a bit absurd for a "pitch to contact" pitcher. He's a "solid" real-life pitcher who has a limited ceiling, but also limits damage. What a catch-22 huh? Doesn't help he's going against a team that can mash in KIW. To show you why he remains in the player pool, all we need to do is look at his stat line from his best start of the season (vs. SK): 9 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 31.5 DK PTs. To show you why he's not anywhere near a lock all we need to do is look at his stat line
